Chandrashekhar Ashtakam

Once the moon has curse by Daksha that he will decay. Moon has no way to stop curse so he requests sage to solve the curse.

Sage suggests to worship Rudra and chant Mahamrityunjay mantra 10 crore times.

Moon, his family, and sages go to Somnath and start to chant Mrityunjay mantra.

After six months, Lord Shiva please to the moon and give Darshana. They remove the curse in a partial way that he decay half time in a month and other half time he grows.

Shiva removes all pain moon face and give a boon that he stay on the head.

Chandra is a moon and who have a moon on the head is Chandrasekhara which is the name of Shambhu.

Conclusion
